We’ve taken design inspiration from our local surroundings, with colours directly reflecting the surrounding Bohuslän coast and architecture, in warm hues which reflect the friendly disposition of this seaside community. Our roastery is located in the heart of Skärhamn, directly accessed from the marina.
We are proud to be situated in a more rural area of the country, in which we have more direct influence on our socio-economic impact by providing more, and diverse employment opportunities, and in providing a much needed social space for a thriving cultural community. We hope our Loring S15 Falcon will serve this community for many years to come.
Sustainability is a loose term which is often abused in the coffee industry, an industry which as a whole continues to be unsustainable from both a socio-economic and environmental perspective. It’s difficult to be nuanced and transparent in our communications, so instead of boasting about the good we’re doing, we’d rather highlight the areas of improvement we need to work on.
We have, as one of the first worldwide partners, already comitted to buying lots together with partner importer Belco in supporting their freight by sail venture ‘Fresh Coffee, Clean Ocean’ as a part of reducing our inherited carbon emissions. This initiative allows for faster, and more direct freight, more transparent shipping costs, reduced maritime noise polution, and is 90% carbon emissions free, as maritime freight is the 6th largest contributor to global CO2 emissions. Belco have also comitted to transporting 90% of their coffee by sail, by 2030.
